Enjoy a huge range of local Japan events in August!

Japan Month is an annual event coordinated by the Consulate-General of Japan, Brisbane aimed at promoting Japanese cultural exchange. Local Japan-related organisations will be holding a variety of events, which will start with a bang with our annual Japan Cultural Day at the Mt Coot-Tha Botanic Gardens.

Japan Cultural Day at the Botanic Gardens

Celebrate Japanese culture in Brisbane with a huge range of cultural activities at the Mount Coot-Tha Botanic Gardens on Sunday 6 August. The gorgeous Japanese Gardens will come alive with Japanese music, food, and culture!

AJS-Qld Career Seminar
Thurs 10 August | 5:30pm - 7:30pm | Hybrid Seminar
Discover where a Japan-related career can take you with this hybrid event co-hosted by the Consulate-General of Japan, Brisbane. Hear from speakers who have made a career out of their Japanese studies. The evening is targeted at high school and university students, but all are welcome!

As part of this year’s Japan Month celebrations in Brisbane, members and guests of Australia-Japan related organisations in South East Queensland are invited to the inaugural Australia Japan Dinner. The evening will include a presentation titled “10 Things You Should Know about the Japanese Economy” by Mr GOMAKUBO Junji, Consul-General of Japan in Brisbane, together with cultural entertainment and a three-course dinner and drinks.

QSA Talks: Japanese War Brides – a Queensland story

Join Dr Keiko Tamura & Elysha Rei in a co-hosted event with the Consulate-General of Japan in Brisbane & QSA about Japanese war brides. This hybrid presentation will illuminate the stories and experiences of Japanese women who immigrated to Australia as war brides in the 1950s, marking more than 70 years since the first Japanese war bride arrived in Australia in 1952.

Sogetsu Ikebana Exhibition

Enjoy Sogetsu Ikebana Queensland’s gorgeous annual exhibition of Ikebana – the Japanese art of flower arranging at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha Auditorium. This year Sogetsu will celebrate 60 years of Ikebana in Queensland!
