General Requirements for visiting the Consulate-General of Japan, Brisbane

Before Visiting

o Original valid photo ID is required to visit the Consulate-General of Japan in Brisbane. Appointments are required for visa applications click here for detailsVisa Collection does not require an appointment.

o If you have a visa-related enquiry, please read all our visa pages and the ‘Required Information' sections for - in-person applications and/or online eVISA’ before contacting our office. For visa applications, all listed required documents must be printed out - we do not provide printing. Any fees incurred must be paid for in cash (card facilities not available), change will be provided.

 
 
Security Process for Entry
 
Please line up on the left side in front of the Consulate entrance (without blocking elevator doors and safety stairs) to minimise obstruction. For safety reasons DO NOT sit on the floor in this shared public space. Our office opens from 9:00am and is closed during lunchtime (click here to see our opening hours for each service), DO NOT arrive before 9:00am and 1:30pm to prevent overcrowding in this shared public space.
 
All visitors are required to show one form of original photographic identification to the security guard stationed at the main door before they will be permitted to enter. Preferred forms of identification are a valid passport, Australian driver licence or other government-issued ID.
 
As the Level 17 lobby is a shared public space, please only come up to Level 17 no earlier than five minutes before your appointment in adherence with safety and overcrowding prevention measures.
 
Due to security reasons and for the safety of all guests, visitors are not permitted to bring the following items into the reception area: 
 
o Sharp & dangerous objects e.g. scissors (passport photographs will be cut by staff) and lighters etc. (anything that would not be allowed on a plane)
o Cameras (no photographing inside)o Video recorders, audio recorders and other similar devices
o Unsealed food and beverages are not allowed inside the waiting room area to prevent spillage
o Scooters, bicycles etc. (these cannot be brought up to Level 17 nor inside the Consulate, please make the necessary arrangements before visiting the Consulate)
 
Mobile phones are permitted but for information access and reference purposes only. However, phone calls (unless permitted by staff), photos, videos and voice recordings are prohibited.
 
Once inside, please have any collection receipts ready and head to the Reception window straight in front of the entry, state your purpose of visit to staff and whether it is an application or collection (e.g. visa application or collection; passport renewal/application or passport collection; police check application or police check collection). Visitors will then be given a number to wait until called. Those who do not make sure to get a number may lose their place in the queue.
