Foreign Minister’s Commendation for FY 2026 (Queensland Recipients) Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Signing of the Japan-Australia Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Japan-Australia Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, the Consulate-General of Japan in Brisbane is pleased to announce that the recipients of the Foreign Minister’s Commendation in Queensland are as follows (listed in Japanese alphabetical order).
 
Mr. Christopher Whitecross
Former President of the Queensland Japan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (QJCCI)
 
Ms. Margaret Rackemann
Former President of the Australia Japan Society - Queensland Inc. (AJS - QLD)
 
Mr. Naomichi Hirano OAM
President of the Japan Community of Queensland Inc.
 
The Foreign Minister’s Commendation is awarded to individuals and organisations that have made particularly outstanding contributions in various fields of international relations, thereby promoting friendly relations between Japan and other nations. The Commendation also aims to foster greater understanding and support for the activities of these individuals and organisations among the general public.
 
This year’s Foreign Minister’s Commendation honours individuals and groups who have contributed to Japan-Australia relations in various fields, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Japan-Australia Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.
